Traveling Tips: Use sunscreen

It is a good general rule to apply sunscreen when you are at the beach, or under the sun. The sunscreen should be applied about a half hour before going outside to allow time for it to take effect. And it should be reapplied at least every two hours, when you are outdoors for a prolonged period and especially after swimming, bathing, drying off with a towel or handkerchief. Water and perspiration resistant sunscreens are available. However their protection will not last indefinitely. When you visit us, remember you have to use sunscreen; sun can cause terrible damages on your skin if you do not protect yourself. Whenever you visit the Sunbreeze Suites and go to the beach, bring a sunscreen!

“We would stay here again, no questions asked!”

The Hotel Belize was perfect for us, it was close to the water taxi and the excitement of San Pedro, and we were able to walk everywhere. The hotel employees were friendly and helpful with everything, including assistance with the booking and organizing of any trip excursions that we were interested in. This hotel is the perfect place to relax in the pool and enjoy the island life.

Fantastic Place, Fantastic People

We just returned from a great 9 days stay at the Sunbreeze Suites in San Pedro, Belize Beach. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are interested in staying close to town with easy access to everything! There were numerous dive shops in easy walking distance; the water taxi is literally right next to the hotel on the beach. You can also walk to tons of great restaurants within 5-10 minutes. Probably the best part was the staff! The front desk and activities people were terrific. My fiancé told them, it was my birthday, and they helped arrange a beautiful bouquet of flowers to be waiting in my room when we returned from diving. We had fresh Mango juice every morning from the restaurant, where the bartender was amazing and so nice. The cleaning staff was great; the room was spotless everyday upon our return from morning dives. The room itself was spacious, with a separate bedroom and living area as well, as a full kitchen (although with so many good restaurants I must admit we only took advantage of the fridge :)) Our room (207) had a perfect view of the beach, ocean, and pool, and had a wrap-around balcony that was perfect for sitting out. In the evening enjoying the breeze.

The only potential negative for some that I could see is that the hotel IS right in the heart of town, so things tend to be a bit busy on the beach. This did not bother us at all, although Easter weekend was a little noisy. The rest of the time, however, it was lights out for us by 9 or 10 and it was very peaceful. For travelers looking for a more serene setting, you may want to consider going a little farther north or south. For us, the advantage of being able to walk everywhere far outweighed anything else.

For divers, we would highly recommend Chuck and Robbie’s, they were very professional, have nice rental gear (including weight-integrated BCs) and were extremely knowledgeable of the different sites.

Belize Zoo

The Belize Zoo is a perfect place to visit in Belize if you are having vacations with kids. A visit to the zoo is a way to get an introduction to the animals of Belize and to understand why it is important to protect the habitats that sustain them. It houses over 125 animals, all native Belizean species and it is considered a national treasure. The Belize Zoo was started in 1983, shortly after the backyard “zoo” began, then it was realized that Belizean visitors were unfamiliar with the different species of wildlife of Belize. This situation fomented the commitment to develop the little zoo into a dynamic wildlife education center. Thousands of foreigners, kids, and teachers visit the Belize Zoo each year. Whenever visit the Sunbreeze Suites, do not forget to get your kids to the Belize Zoo to learn more about animals and wildlife.
