Original Music in Belize



The Belizean people enjoy music that comes from America and the Caribbean, as well as contemporary recordings of America, but are proud of their themselves creations . In Belize, for many people, music is part of national identity, a way to have connection with ansestros, retaining the traditional and cultural practices. Belize has a big variety of sounds.

While traveling through Belize, the musical soundtrack for each destination may vary. Let your body move to the "Brukdown" - a distinctive, original musical genre Creole using percussion instruments like the accordion and the "jaw" of a cow; "Punta Rock"; - An infusion of traditional Garifuna rhythms accompanied by electric guitar; or travel to the north and south and listen to the mestizo and Maya, playing the melodious Marimba.
