Butterfly Jungle

The Butterfly Jungle is a beautiful place at San Pedro, where you will see thousands of amazing butterflies. A specialized team raises the butterflies you see; so you will see every stage of the transformation: from miniscule egg through lowly caterpillar to miraculous jeweled butterfly. The butterflies at the jungle are all native Belizeans. There are between 15 and 25 different species, flying all at the same time at the 18’x36’ flight room. All species are distinctive and beautiful in their own way. From the giant Tawny Owl to the diminutive Clearwing, each butterfly will enchant you as it floats through our Jungle on sparkling wings. Being there you will be happy to visit the greenhouse, which is filled with lush jungle plants and outlandish flowers. There you will learn all about butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Punta Rock

Punta Rock or Belizean Punta is a Belizean style of music, which combines music from electric guitars and electronic instruments, with the traditional punta rhythms of the Garifuna, using drums, turtle shells, and rattles. Its rhythms and lyrics are totally adapted to the general Belizean identity and are used for both social commentary and risqué humor. Punta Rock swept Belize and later became popular in other Central American countries. Belizeans love to dance Punta Rock and spend good moments accompanied with this exciting rhythm.

The rice hour.

Rice is such an important food in Belize that some people have renamed the dinner hour as "rice hour" but it could just as easily be "bean hour". Belizeans love their beans--particularly red beans. And the rice? Twice as nice cooked with real grated coconut.
