Scubadiving at Belize

Cayes and atolls provide superior opportunity for creative activities as scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing or simply rest and disconnect from stress or have a great time with friends and family.

Belize offers all ranges of diving as the great blue hole over 200 feet deep or the hol chan marine park Belize (recently expanded to include Shark-Ray Alley) which is more for beginners.

Snorkeling trips more or less last two to three hours. Snorkel boats go out once in the morning and in the afternoon, more frequently during busy periods. A couple of dozen dive and snorkel operators offer snorkel trips. It is difficult to recommend one over another, as the quality of the experience depends on who is your guide on a particular trip and also the weather and sea conditions.

Belize My Native Land

Belize my native land
A letter by your daughter’s hand
For a legacy from my peers long gone
For this I thank thee

This land of lush green forests
The bush lands of Belize
The rivers and creeks where waters flow
For this I thank thee

The morning mist that rises at dawn
From this land of sea and sand
A message told that we are one
For this I thank thee

For the brightly coloured birds you gave to me
Tip-toeing in the lowlands, some flying high
Of natures hurray - you can hear them sing
For this I thank thee

Your tropical breezes whispers to me
This land we must protect
This place where man and beast are one
For this I thank thee

Anthem of belize

O Land of the Free by the Carib Sea,

Our manhood we pledge to thy liberty!

No tyrants here linger, despots must flee

This tranquil haven of democracy.

The blood of our sires, which hallows the sod,

Brought freedom from slavery oppression's rod,

By the might of truth and the grace of God.

No longer shall we be hewers of wood.

Chorus

Arise, ye sons of the Baymen's clan!

Put on your armour, clear the land!

Drive back the tyrants, let despots flee!

Land of the Free by the Carib Sea!

Nature has blessed thee with wealth untold,

O'er mountains and valleys where prairies roll;

Our fathers, the Baymen, valiant and bold

Drove back the invader, this heritage hold

From proud Rio Hondo to old Sarstoon,

Through coral isle, over blue lagoon,

Keep watch with the angels, the stars and moon.

For freedom comes tomorrow's noon.

Chorus

Arise, ye sons of the Baymen's clan!

Put on your armour, clear the land!

Drive back the tyrants, let despots flee!

Land of the Free by the Carib Sea!

Another traditional dish is the Stewed Chicken, this is one of the plates that every visitor should experience. This delectable dish has a secret to be prepared an is to brown the chicken that's been rubbed with a paste called "recado" and sprinkled with pepper, salt and garlic before adding water, a dash of vinegar and chopped onions and sweet peppers.
